Kevin Roche

Kevin Roche Kevin has been making costumes since he was 8 (and has the photographic evidence to prove it!). He was honored with the International Costumers Guild Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. Kevin and his partner Andy Trembley set out in 2002 to bring Costume-Con back to California, and ~900 hundred costumers showed up at Costume-Con 26 in April 2008 to join the fun. In his secret identity as a research scientist at IBM's Almaden Research Center, he's hard at work wrangling giant robot vacuum chambers and electrons in the growing field of spintronics. In 2009, he and Jason Schachat began the online monthly costume pictorial Yipe!. This year he demonstrated his questionable sanity by agreeing to co-direct the Renovation Masquerade.

Masquerade

This is a unique show created by fans, for fans, live. In seconds, each entry conducts us all into their fantastic vision. Entries come from all genres of SF; characters recreated from film, television, anime, comics and art, others brought to life from the pages of literature, and still more from the imagination of their creators. Doors will open for seating at 7:30pm, and at 8:00pm MCs Phil and Kaja Foglio will be your guides. While the judges deliberate, author and bon vivant Paul Cornell will host a special Worldcon edition of Just a Minute.

If you want to enter or volunteer, come by the Masquerade Desk in the RSCC lobby on Wednesday or Thursday, even if you have already pre-registered for the show online.

Match Game SF

Get ready to match the fannish stars! In this SF/F-themed game show based on the popular 1970s game show, audience members will be randomly selected as contestants to match wits with our panel. The object of the game is to guess how the panel answers fill-in-the-blank questions like “Captain Kirk has the biggest ___ in Starfleet.” Winners receive prizes such as gift certificates from Worldcon dealers, book packages, or convention memberships. All contestants receive Lovely Parting Gifts (TM). Doors open immediately after the Hugos and the festivities begin half an hour later.

Sun 11:00 (D04) 1 hr
If I Were Queen of the Worldcon

If we could start again, what would these fans (some well experienced and others up and coming) do with the Worldcon. Everyone has different ideas. Some dreams may avoid the bureaucracy and stipulations that some feel hamstring or dull the adventure that Worldcon could be. Our panel also discusses how to ensure Worldcon still happens in twenty years.
